Abstract: Antimicrobial resistance profile of Campylobacter jejuni / coli strains isolated from some turkey slaughterhouses located in the region of Algiers The objective of our research was to study the antibiotic resistance profiles of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli strains after their isolation from 200 turkey samples including neck skins and caecums. These samples were collected in 3 turkey slaughterhouses located in the region of Algiers. Our results showed that all the collected samples were highly contaminated by Campylobacter jejuni / coli (72,5%). We also observed that the isolated strains were resistant to the majority of the tested antibiotics: ampicillin (65.6%), erythromycin (25.0%), ciprofloxacin (75.0%), tetracycline (81.3%) and nalidixic acid (87.5%). No resistance was recorded for gentamicin and chloramphenicol. 81.2% of the isolated strains were multiresistant and contained ciprofloxacin and/or erythromycin in their resistance profiles. In conclusion, the important reservoir wich is turkey participates not only in the spread of pathogenic strains of thermotolerant Campylobacter but also in the emergence of antibiotic resistance phenomenon in Algeria
