Abstract: Our study entitled: ''Effect of temperature on HDPE high density polyethylene tubes'', focuses on the effect of the temperature of the water transported on the mechanical resistance of HDPE pipes, as well as on the estimation of their lifetime. HDPE pipes are used for a variety of applications due to their corrosion resistance and durability, lightweight, flexibility, impact resistance, smooth interior surface, they are non-toxic, recyclable and have a low cost of production. They are commonly employed for the transport and distribution of fluids, such as drinking water and chemicals, as well as for the transport of compressible fluids such as natural gas. For transporting water at 20 degrees Celsius (68° F), the lifespan of HDPE pipes is estimated to be 50 years, but for water temperatures exceeding 20 degrees Celsius (68° F), the mechanical properties of these pipes change, and the lifespan of the pipes decreases. In this study, we will examine the effect of high water temperatures on the mechanical resistance of HDPE pipes, as well as estimate the lifespan of these pipes.
