Résumé: | Medicinal plants and culinary herbs with antiangiogenic and little toxicity properties have gained importance. No toxic and antiangiogenic phytochemicals are useful in combating cancer by preventing the formation of new blood vessels to support the tumor growth. We have investigated the lipid fraction of Pinus halepensis Mill. seeds for a possible antiangiogenic activity. The neutral lipids, glycolipids and phospholipids fractions from Aleppo pine were complexed by -cyclodextrin and analyzed by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H1-NMR). Their cytotoxic activity was evaluated on three cells lines (Adenocarcinoma of human basal epithelial cells (A549), human colon adenocarcinoma (HCT15) and human myeloma (HL60)) by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium (MTT).Antiangiogenic activity was evaluated in vitro on endothelial cells tube formation, and in vivo on chorioallantoic membrane of the chick embryo White Leghorn breed (CAM). These results imply that the neutral lipids, glycolipids, and phospholipids of Pinus halepensis Mill. seeds are not toxic and have antiangiogenic activity at concentrations of 1 mg/ml and 10 mg/ml might be useful in preventing angiogenesis related diseases and in combating cancer. |
